Dr. Christine Shea, DPT

Dr. Christine Shea imparts her kindhearted and genuine personality on each and every patient. She is known for her nurturing, attentive, forbearing and thoughtful rehabilitative treatment style. Christine’s patients are instantly comforted by her soothing and compassionate nature, all while receiving leading-edge physical therapy care. Dr. Shea continually produces valued, comprehensive and rewarding therapeutic outcomes.

Christine Shea graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, MA. There she was a 4-sport athlete, playing soccer, cross-country, track and lacrosse. In cross-country, her team won the State Championships her senior year. In track, she was an All-Star for all 4 years in the 300m and the 4 x 400m relay. In lacrosse, she played all 4 years qualifying for the National Championships at Loyola University her junior year.

Christine then attended Connecticut College in New London, CT. There she studied biology, while continuing to participate in lacrosse and track. After two years, she transferred to Northeastern University in Boston, graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree in biology. At Northeastern, Christine participated in a co-op with Critical Therapeutics Inc. of Lexington, a biotech company that focused on rheumatoid arthritis research. She also joined the Sigma Sigma Sigma (ΣΣΣ) sorority; she was the chairperson for their philanthropic efforts supporting polio research.

Dr. Shea also worked for seven years, in high school and through college, as a lifeguard and swimming instructor at the Belmont Day School.

After graduating college, Christine then began her professional career at Massachusetts General Hospital working as a unit coordinator in the memory disorders unit. She was responsible for assisting with the treatment services for people with neurological and cognitive impairments by performing patient intake, scheduling, referrals, medication management, etc. While at MGH, Christine also continued to take online classes at Salem State University and at the United States Sports Academy.

Christine then decided to continue her formal education by returning to Northeastern University, graduating with a doctor of physical therapy degree. During graduate school, Christine participated in co-ops and clinical rotations. The first was at an area, outpatient physical therapy clinic where she originally met HDPT co-founder, Glenn D’Addario, MSPT, DPT. The second was at Milford Regional Hospital where she gained experience in acute care and with respiratory and cardiac patients. She also worked at the outpatient clinics of Sports & Physical Therapy Associates at Northeastern University, and Agility Orthopedics in Stoneham, MA. Throughout graduate school, Christine was also a peer tutor in neurology – a population which is still one her strongest areas of interest.

Outside of work, Christine enjoys working out, especially running and spinning. She has completed one half marathon, and will soon be training for her next.

Dr. Shea has a license to practice physical therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; she is also certified in CPR, First Aid and AED.

Christine joined the HDPT team in August of 2013. She currently resides in Salem, MA with her husband Elliot and daughter Nora.
